Baptisms~

Many parents like to invite the Godparents or a special family member to choose a personal verse from the Bible or other spiritual text to serve as a personal guide throughout the life of the person being baptized. As well as anointing the person being baptized with water, the person may be anointed with oil to symbolize the anointing of Christ before his death on the cross. Often a family member may want to offer a special reading to the congregation. Again, depending on the wind factor, the parents may want to provide a baptismal candle that they and the Godparents can light to symbolize that the life of the person being baptized is forever illuminated by the eternal truth of God's love.
